DOWN GOES JOSHUA

On Saturday June 1st, 2019, boxing's Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua took on challenger Andy Ruiz, Jr. in Joshua's United States debut fight at Madison Square Garden. Ruiz was the huge underdog going into this fight with Joshua being the heavy favorite. In fact, most reporters and boxing journalists were already looking past this fight to the anticipated Joshua-Wilder showdown that everyone's been wanting to see for years now. This fight was supposed to be just another win for Joshua---well, by now, we all know how that turned out.

First off, congratulations to Andy Ruiz on pulling off the huge upset, and becoming the first ever Mexican Heavyweight champ in boxing! Secondly, I really can't say I'm too surprised at how this fight turned out and here's why...

Boxing's heavyweight division in my opinion is long passed its golden age. I've always held that AJ was beating all of his opponents simply because he was outlasting them--he wasn't always the best boxer each time, but he's always been the best conditioned dude in the division which was the prime factor in how he's managed to best his opponents. Ruiz definitely wasn't the most physically imposing or impressive of the two, judging by appearances, but he's a natural fighter with good instincts and most importantly heart.

AJ definitely puts in the work necessary to ensure that he's in the best shape possible to give himself the best chance. However, Ruiz clearly is just a natural talent of a fighter with instincts and heart that you can't teach or train. To me this is one of those cases where natural talent won. As they say in all sports, some things you just can't teach. Despite AJ's work ethic and dedication to his craft as a boxer, Ruiz was clearly the better natural fighter of the two. After seeing this fight, I'd definitely say that Ruiz would give both Fury and especially Wilder problems as well. AJ was the man though in how gracious he was in defeat, and he'll most likely brush this off and carry on because that's what champs do.

That being said, I have the utmost respect for fighters. What a tough way to earn your keep, having to fight with another man in front of millions of people. Win or lose, I love what they represent in keeping on the fight and taking on the challenges and risks that most of us obviously wouldn't. Hats off to both fighters.

  1. Ruiz is a beast sole I honestly think he got robbed against Parker awhile back. Watched that fight and i think he should of won! No disrespect to my uce Parker but he wasn’t expecting Ruiz to be as dominant, because of that loss people didn’t expect Andy to be as good going into this one with AJ. I had a feeling he would get the best of him in this fight and he did! Love my Hispanic people but I hope Wilder gives Andy that work bro!! Idk if it will go down like that but I hope bro!!!

    1. For real bro. Many, including myself, have been sleeping on Ruiz's actual boxing ability. The boy can hit, take a hit, got quick hands, and is pretty sound with his defensive mechanics. I went and re-watched that Parker fight too. It was really close, but Ruiz had him on his heels most of the fight it seemed. If it wasn't for Parker's good chin, he might've dropped a few times like AJ did.

Also, since we brought up the uce lol, I do think the ref really got in the way and saved AJ a ton when he fought Parker though. Seemed like every time Parker was able to close the distance and begin turning it into a rumble, the ref would step in and back him up which gave the advantage to AJ. I really think Parker could've dropped AJ as well had the ref not intervened as many times as he did

The 5 Most Influential NBA Players of All-Time

Photo by Edgar Chapparo Of all the greats who have made their marks on the game of basketball, here's my take on the Top 5 MOST INFLUENTIAL of them all. 5. LEBRON JAMES) The "King" Lebron James starts off our list as the 5th most influential player of all time. The past decade has been, without a doubt, the Lebron James era in the basketball world. James has been the most dominant player for quite some time now. However, his overall influence isn't as much about his actual game as it is about the business decisions he's made on and off of the court. After all, how many aspiring young hoopers are blessed to be 6'8 athletic freaks built like a tank with Lamborghini speed? Not many, if any, can even attempt to emulate Lebron's style to the game. When Lebron James decided to take his talents to South Beach, he sparked the beginning of a prevalent trend in the league today that has caused mixed emotions for players and fans alike. Good players...

5 Criteria for Pricing a Home

With the recent economic chaos facing the country in the aftermath of COVID-19, many of ya'll may be looking to sell your home. If that is the case, here are some things to consider.  When you put your home up for sale, one of the best ways to determine the asking price is to look at comparable sales. There’s rarely a perfect apples-to-apples comparison, so a pricing decision often relies on comparisons to other recent sales in the area. Here are five criteria to look for in a sales comparison. Location:  Homes in the same neighborhood typically follow the same market trends. Comparing your home to another in the same neighborhood is a good start, but comparing it to homes on the same street or block is even better. Date of sale:  It varies by location, but housing markets can fluctuate a lot in a short time period. It‘s best to use the most recent sales data you can find. Home build:  Look for homes with similar architectural styles, numbers of bathro...
